  1. Remove your VZ Sensor from its packaging and make sure one of the included batteries is inserted inside, with no extra packaging plastic around it. Replace the battery cover securely.

  2. Use the enclosed elastic band to affix VZ Sensor to the pedal crank of a stable, stationary exercise bike (not a road bike on a trainer).

    1. If you have enough space, try to get it on the inside of the crank, closer to the center than the pedal, to minimize the chances of knocking it with your foot while riding. If you don't have enough space there, it's okay to place it on the outside of the crank, too.

    2. If your bike has thin crank arms and the elastic band is too long, you can cinch it to tighten the band more.

  3. Make sure you can make a Bluetooth connection with the bike. Are you on PC or mobile?

    1. On PC: Plug a Bluetooth dongle (not included) into a USB port on your PC.

    2. On mobile: You don't need to use the USB Bluetooth dongle that comes in the battery compartment of your bike; as long as you never deliberately disabled Bluetooth on your smartphone, your phone will automatically detect the bike's Bluetooth signal. You can just insert the phone into your VR headset when ready.

To set up your VZ Sensor for the first time, remove it from its packaging and follow the instructions in the printed manual that came with it (which you can also find here in PDF format). Please make special note of the following:

  • Your bike must be a stable, stationary exercise bike. Because moving in VirZOOM games feels so realistic, players frequently lean into turns without realizing it. For safety reasons, VZ Sensor should not be used on a road bike mounted on a trainer, as these are significantly less stable while leaning.
  • The LED light only flashes each time you "wake up" VZ Sensor by rotating it 90 degrees per second, indicating that it has power and is seeking a Bluetooth connection. Then the light stops flashing to conserve energy. When you are not using VZ Sensor, it enters "sleep mode" to conserve even more energy, and the light remains off.
  • 2 batteries & 2 elastic bands come with your VZ Sensor, but only one of each is needed at a time. The others are extras in case you need them later.

Once you finish getting VZ Sensor affixed to your bike, it's ready to use with VirZOOM games! If you haven't yet installed VirZOOM Arcade, our free collection of exercise games, check out our our Setup Guide for  for instructions specific to your VR platform.
