Samsung Gear VR Setup

This page will walk you through the steps to get set up to play games with VirZOOM using your Samsung Gear VR with controller. To do this, you'll register for a VirZOOM account; install our free collection of exercise games, VirZOOM Arcade; and, if you'd like to track your scores and workout progress or interact with other players online, register your VirZOOM device. If you haven't already set up your VZ Bike Controller or VZ Sensor, should go do that step first before you return here. Check out our instructional video, or follow the steps as written below.

Set up Gear VR & Oculus app for the first time

If you haven't already installed the Oculus app on your phone or used Gear VR before, check Oculus' setup instructions online.

Create a VirZOOM account & install VirZOOM Arcade

If you’re using your own Samsung phone (must be a Samsung Galaxy S7 on Android 7, or newer), you'll need a special code to download VirZOOM games from the Oculus Store. You can get that code by creating a VirZOOM account:

1. Go to my.virzoom.com/register_new_account and follow instructions on screen.

2. Check your email for the confirmation message, and click on the link in it.

3. Log in with your username and password, and click on "(your name)'s account" in navigation.

4. Look for your Gear VR download code on this page.

5. Open the Oculus app on your smartphone.

6. Tap MORE, then tap REDEEM CODE.

7. Enter the code from earlier, and tap SUBMIT.

Now you can download VirZOOM Arcade to the Oculus app, and tap on it from within the Oculus app to launch it. You can play all VirZOOM Arcade games at this point, but without registering your device, you'll only be able to play offline. Read on for instructions on how to get set up to play online.

Register your VirZOOM device to play online

To play VirZOOM Arcade games online, you need to register your VirZOOM device with the VirZOOM account you created above. Here's how to set that up:

1. Launch the Oculus app on your phone, go to your Library, and open VirZOOM Arcade.
2. When your phone asks for permission to access other features (like location, photo storage, and/or Bluetooth), say yes.
3. When you see a screen prompting you to connect a bike... 
   1. If you're on VZ Bike, switch it on and start pedaling.
   2. If you're on a bike with VZ Sensor attached, start pedaling at least 90 degrees per second.
   3. If you're using a handheld controller, press the button indicated on your screen to use a controller instead of a bike.
4. Make note of the code that appears on the bottom of your screen and/or in your headset.
5. Use a web browser to visit virzoom.com/register and enter your code.
6. Use the login info you created earlier, when you installed VirZOOM Arcade in the Oculus app.
7. Check your email and click on the link to complete the registration process.

When you return to VirZOOM Arcade, you'll find that it has automatically moved past the intro screen and you can now play games. Follow the instructions on screen to get started! And just a heads up: The games don't all unlock at once the first time you play—there's a series of tutorials to play to help you get acclimated to moving around in VR, but you only ever need to complete those once, and then you can play any games you want, as much as you want.
